I recently learnt about the German tradition of placing a stork in your front garden to announce a baby has been born, and how it is a sign to neighbours and friends for them to offer support, drop round a meal or some groceries. Wouldn't it be lovely if we could have that kind of instinctive support here?
I love anything to do with encouraging support for postpartum, so I feel inspired to make some things to support this idea. First up is this stork illustration, which I thought could be a sticker to go in the window or on a door - and i've popped it on this bag too! Next is a poster with a verse I've written, which I hoped I might be able to encourage doulas and birthworkers to give to their clients ☺️
A little one has joined our nest
And now we need support to rest
So if you have the time to spare
- to drop off groceries, or a meal to share -
Your help and kindness will ease the way
To cherish our bundle of joy each day
