Download an A4 printable colouring page featuring a pregnant woman and the affirmation 'My baby is the right size for my body'.
Judging a baby's size with an ultrasound scan is not reliable - with 15% margin of error either side of the size estimated. But even if your baby is estimated to be 'big' by a doctor...does that mean your body has made a mistake? Or could we trust that our bodies are beautifully-designed - and wouldn't grow a baby that we couldn't birth.
I was offered the 36 week 'growth' scan with my second baby - and I felt very positive about declining it. I was planning a physiological birth at home, and I didn't want to travel all the way into hospital, during COVID, to have a non-critical scan in a clinical environment, that might just de-rail my faith and hopes for a non-medical birth. If i'd gone to that scan perhaps they would have decided my baby looked too big or too small, and even if I'd then declined any intervention - it would still have sown the seeds of doubt in my mind.
So I chose to listen to my body. And my body told me everything was fine. I trusted that my body knew what it was doing, and that my journey was divinely guided. A suspected 'big' or 'small' baby is not enough reason for an induction without any medical concerns. See Sara Wickham for evidence-based info on Induction for Big Baby.
